Joisey

Yesterday was time for another road trip (although I wasn't driving & it wasn't snowing!). Rick picked me up at the NJ Transit stop near where he's staying & we took off on the open road to the Jersey Shore! It was my first time there (before I leave I need to take the ferry sometime--it's a pretty ride!) & the view of the NYC skyline is magnificent! We saw Twin Towers (lighthouses!), ate a Hot Dawg (mine was a Reuben & Rick's a Chili Cheese), & continued on our journey to the Red Mill in Clinton. New Jersey is interesting--there are nice pockets, but it's a state so full of roads that you're never quite away from mass suburbia!

Our favorite adventure of the day, though, was finding a Cracker Barrel! Once I mentioned the restaurant, we both agreed it was worth the expedition, & we drove an hour out of our way for it! Eggs, grits, biscuits, & apple butter = worth every minute of the extra fun of the road trip! To end the evening we ended up waiting at a Dunkin Donuts for my train--& sending pictures, videos, & sound clips to Sarah, who was jealous because she wasn't there!

An important lesson for anyone riding the NJ Transit: On Saturday nights, the NJ Transit is basically a BYOB party for a bunch of kids (well, they might be of age, but they all act pretty stupid). About two stops after where I got on, the mass invasion of smelly (like cigarettes & alcohol) groups of people began. They were loud & obnoxious, but luckily not invasive. It was late, though, & I was beyond glad to be off that train when we finally got back to Penn Station!

And that, folks, is what I can tell you about Joisey. Oh, & fall is the best time to go so you can see the leaves change color.
